MATH QUEST
Like elementary age students everywhere Charlene is worried about doing well on her end of grade math test. Though she has studied hard and her mother gives her plenty of encouragement; Charlene goes to bed thinking tomorrow she will fail the test. While asleep she starts to dream and find herself in Math Land. There she is introduced to host of characters who sing and rap about math including the Decimal Points, Mr. Sum and Mrs. Difference and two hip lions named Patience and Fortitude. From these interactions Charlene wakes up feeling confident and excited about taking her math test. The story moves fast, the music is outstanding, and the results is a fun filled classroom experience.

Math Quest debuted with four sold out performances at the thousand seat Carolina Theatre in Durham, NC. Study Guides for the show were developed by Duke University’s Department of Elementary Education and distributed by McClatchy Newspapers to over three hundred thousand homes and schools.
The Math Quest study guide follows Charlene through her encounters in Math Land. It was designed by Duke University’s Elementary Teacher Preparation program and over three hundred thousand copies were distributed to schools across the state of North Carolina by The McClatchy Company.
